ART : Zipper, expanded fashion

The beginning of artwork using zipper was in 1993 when I was a student in university.

I just made prototype with remaining materials by chance, approached easily then, but I remembered it was very interesting experience to make something new with zipper.  

After 15 years of the beginning, going through lots of executions, failures and repeated modelings, selected 20 pieces of jackets with advanced zipper details were presented. 

During that times, actually I had not been focused on it, but just thinking about exhibition art works using zipper somehow, someday.  Finally I did it. 

All the pieces of works are emotional visualization about image, smell, flavor, taste and feeling in familiar ' baking bread'

To me, ingredients, changing color and texture, forms and figures by kneading, molding, fermentation and baking are plentiful sources of inspiration.  

Baking and fashion, two unlikely and unexpected combination make new experiences with fun in art and design.

1993년 우연히 남는 지퍼와 동선으로 엮고 쌓아 만든 작은 샘플 조형 작업을 시작으로 지퍼에 관심을 갖게 되었다. 

오랫동안 지퍼를 이용한 작업에 빠져 있지는 않았지만, 늘 관심을 갖고 이런저런 작업을 해보면서 언젠가, 어떻게든, 지퍼 디테일을 활용한 패션 전시를 해야겠다는 계획은 있었다. 

15년이 지나 <The story about bread and cupcakes>라는 주제로 빵의 재료와 만드는 과정을 시각화한 패션 전시를 열게 된다. 

밀가루 반죽부터 성형, 휴지, 발효, 굽기에 따라 변해가는 재료의 색, 부피, 모양, 질감 등을 옷으로 표현한 작품들이다. 

매일의 일상과 평범함 속에서 시작된 작은 호기심을 시각화 해보고, 서로 어울리지 않을 것만 같은 요소들을 섞어 내가 잘 할 수 있는 방식으로 표현 해보고, 결과물이 상상과 다르게 나와도 계속 다른 방법으로 만들어 보니, 마침내 하나의 프로젝트가 탄생했다.
